We also introduced you to the concept of the “Gigaboom” – the idea that when there is one gigabit provider in a market, more are sure to follow. The allure, speed, and status symbol of gigabit Internet for consumers means that the competitive pressure for service providers to match the competition in a 1Gig market is higher than ever. Today, we take a visual look at where these “Gigabooms” have occurred – defined as a market with three or more gigabit service providers – and try to draw some conclusions about what they share and what’s next.
